May 2018 Newsletter

Hey There,

We are back with our spring newsletter. In the past we have sent seasonal newsletters to readers and are aiming to contribute more regular updates. This edition covers weather impact, recent announcements, and an original article discussing the White House infrastructure proposal.

A Change in the Weather

Intense hurricanes into a long winter and then back to tropical storms in the blink of an eye. It seems like we should be catching a break with Mother Nature before too long. However, last week we experienced Alberto narrowly miss New Orleans to the east and then primarily make its way north through Alabama, Tennessee, and the Great Lakes region. This subtropical storm is one of only a handful that have ever made landfall this early in the year, potentially spelling trouble for this summer and fall.

We may experience a tumultuous season like last year wrought with a variety of storms for the entire eastern United States. Servato encourages you to take the necessary precautions to help mitigate risk on future maintenance. Reactive measures towards network downtime can sometimes be out of the question for safety reasons, so when a window of opportunity presents itself efficiency is key.

This winter, we were able to pinpoint environmental changes on top of our DC power management. Variable temperatures caused heating and cooling systems to malfunction leading to dangerous situations. The same applies in warmer months where overheating OSP equipment oftentimes goes unnoticed. Read more below about how Servato spotted a scenario that could have gone from bad to worse.

SPS-248

Sine launching our 2 string battery management system, we have seen more providers appreciate the economics behind its design. Anderson connectors for installation, 1 RU for tightly-constrained spaces, daisy-chainable for up to 16 strings of batteries, and sensors unlike any of our other products make the foundation of this innovative system.

If you are interested in learning more about the differences between our systems, you can request documentation below.

Customer First Mentality

Both of these carriers want to invest in power assurance for their customers. Seeing that Tennessee and Indiana have experienced both sides of the hurricane and winter storm spectrum, the benefits are year-round.

Rural Infrastructure Gets a Boost

We know that there are big plans in place for infrastructure spending, to the tune of $200 billion to spur an additional $1.5 trillion in private investment. The parameters of the proposal actually make these numbers seem very reasonable when you dig deeper.
