Case Study: Identifying Heat Issues with Servato's Temperature Probe

CASE INTRODUCTION:

In this case study we take a look at how Servato's ability to monitor temperature and detect issues such as failed fans or heat exchangers can deliver critical insight about site equipment and help extend battery life. This particular example of a failed fan illustrates how manual maintenance may have failed this site. Only a monitoring solution with constant awareness could have alerted the customer about this heat issue. Greater site insight means greater network reliability. The case walks through:

  • Servato's Temperature Monitoring: How it Works
  • The Site: General Overview of the Case and Site
  • The Temperature Data: How ActiView was Quickly Able to Reveal Unusual Temperature Data

Top Four Considerations for Battery Management in a Connected World

This blog post was originally published in Battery Power Magazine. To see the original article, click here. Chris Mangum, CEO and Chairman • Servato

Marching towards the world is the Internet of Things (IoT), the technological trend of connecting everything to the Internet. It seems every industry is busily preparing for the rush of updated products and services that will capitalize on IoT. This puts growing pressure and expectations on telecommunications companies, the companies that provide the connectivity that will actually enable an IoT future. The Internet of Things will only be as useful as networks are expansive, fast and reliable.

Gila River Communications Takes a Powerful Step

Servato CEO and Chairman Chris Mangum Writes for ISE Magazine

"Batteries are the foundation for backup power across the telecommunications industry. However, despite the growing investment in expanding bandwidth and coverage, backup power has not enjoyed the same attention. As the Internet of Things expands (Cisco predicts 50 billion connected devices by 2020), telecommunications companies must ensure not just connectivity to PCs and phones but to billions of devices from home appliances to industrial equipment and public safety assets. With this proliferation of new devices, many of which will deliver critical services to individuals and businesses, the impact of service outages grows exponentially."

CCA Voice: A Lesson in Becoming Proactive

Business Development Manager Alex Rawitz wrote for the 2016 Spring/Summer issue of CCA Voice. The article outlines a proactive approach to maintaining network power.

"Just like an individual’s health, there are many aspects of a healthy network. A big part of a healthy network that is often out of sight and out of mind is backup power. Like individual healthcare, there is an increasing need to focus on preventative wellness in the network by proactively using data. As the Internet of Things (IoT) revolution grows, IoT will add new stresses, require new abilities, and demand more from the aging infrastructure of networks and carriers across the U.S. To realize an IoT future, it is necessary to improve best practices around network health, including backup power."
